As the first snowfall of the year quietly drifts down from the heavens important shit is going down in the Bollen building off of the square in historic downtown Fairfield, Iowa.
Two men quietly drink Miller Lite and curse under their breath. The dry erase board is full of ideas, the fans on the computer whir tirelessly, and there are office supplies, somewhere, I’m sure of it, there is a stapler . . .
These two men are Jason and Zach. Jason and Zach are Public School Records.
Public School Records is doing this:
After the international release of 3 EPs in one year, Coolzey is finally working on his first official full-length album: The Honey.
His available back catalogue includes the 12″ for Eat the Roach, a collection of songs forming a mix-tape-esque album recorded between 2000 and 2006 called Akstoopid, and a demo from 1999-2000 called ROYGBIV.
Taking a break from extensive touring, in the past 4 years he’s gone out on the road multiple times with comrade Schaffer the Darklord, as well as Raashan Ahmad from the Crown City Rockers, Akil the MC of Jurassic 5, and Sadat X of Brand Nubian. He’s also played numerous spots dates around the US with Brother Ali, Blueprint, Cage, Yak Ballz, Pigeon John, Prince Po of Organized Konfusion, Vast Aire, and others.
Coolzey will hit the road in March and April across the United States with the Rhombus, Doctor Don, and Bru Lei.
Besides the first full length album Coolzey is working on a mixtape of recent songs that won’t appear on The Honey, as well as these side projects:
