It’s my birthday, and I’ve got a present for you. You can probably tell how old I am now from its title. Don’t make me say it out loud. This album is a collection of stuff I didn’t put on the other albums — but that needed to get off my consciousness and off my mind to prepare for the next phase of whatever. It all makes for kind of a cool album, actually.

After several requests from Zach that I do so, I finally got around to writing myself an artist profile section here at the PSR site. You can listen to or download my two Chuck Hoffman albums there. Note that there’s a name-your-own-price deal on the downloads, and there is no minimum. You can totally enter 0 if you want and I’ll be totally cool with that.

Hi guys. This is Chuck over in Des Moines. I’ve been helping out little bits here and there with the web site and I’ve been doing music for a long time, most recently under the name Distant Trains. Zach said I should put some music up on the site just now, on an online chat we were having just as I was getting set up to record this track, but I’m not sure if this is quite what he had in mind. For one thing, it’s like 9 minutes long, and for the other, it’s a cover song that I was recording kind of as a practice for myself since I’m thinking of using it in my live sets. Technically it’s a cover of two songs, but I think they have to go together like “This Beat Goes On” and “Switchin’ To Glide.” I fucking hate it when radio stations skip “This Beat” and just play “Switchin’,” that’s lame. I’ve got a Distant Trains album coming out, probably in July, on Sleep On The Floor. And probably a lot of other stuff too. Email me at centipedefarmer at gmail dot-com about whatever. Thanks!

UPDATE SOME MORE: I redid the vocals, which were really bad because I’d been drinking and was just in a slop mood, and ditched the distorted broken melodica in favor of some tasteful trumpet blasts. Yeah go ahead, call me a sellout.
